Sheriff StationImperial Beach Substation

The City of Imperial Beach contracts for law enforcement services with the San Diego County Sheriff.  Since 1983, the San Diego Sheriff's have provided law enforcement services for the City of Imperial Beach. The Imperial Beach Sheriff Station is located at 845 Imperial Beach Boulevard, Imperial Beach, CA 91932. The station provides services for the City of Imperial Beach and the unincorporated communities of Bonita, Chula Vista, Lincoln Acres, Proctor Valley, San Miguel and Otay Valley.  

The 25.68 sworn personnel assigned to Imperial Beach handle more than 28,000 law enforcement incidents per year. The efforts our sworn and professional staff, as well as, those of our volunteers contributes to make the Imperial Beach one of the best tourist destinations in the county.

In addition to patrol and traffic enforcement, the station has a Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (COPPS) team and a Crime Suppression Team, both of which work on specific community needs.  As a contract city, Imperial Beach has access to the Sheriff's SWAT Team, ASTREA helicopters, and a number of other County Sheriff resources.

The Sheriff Department Crime Prevention Specialists, working as members of the patrol stations, deliver and support ever-evolving prevention and safety programs and maintain close partnerships with organizations, agencies, and community members. Firearms Disposal

The San Diego Sheriff's Department seeks to reduce the availability of guns in the community by providing different opportunities for safe disposal of firearms.

Text 9-1-1

Text to 9-1-1 is available in San Diego County, this includes the Sheriff's Department and Emergency Medical services. This is not a service of convenience, Text ONLY if you can't call. Calling 9-1-1 is the best and fastest way. You should text if:

  • You're deaf, hard of hearing, non-verbal or have difficulty speaking
  • You're in a situation where it's not safe to call 9-1-1 for help
  • You're having a medical emergency and cannot speak on the phone

How It Works

  • Open the text messaging app on your smart phone
  • Enter the numbers 911 in the "To" field
  • Give the location and nature of your emergency
  • Respond to any questions and follow instructions

Get Home Safely

Getting lost is scary and can be dangerous.  Especially for someone living with dementia, autism, or other developmental disabilities. 

You can sign your loved one up for the Take Me Home program by contacting your local Crime Prevention Specialist, or by registering online.  The information is confidential, and can only be accessed by law enforcement in an emergency.
