Housing Element Update

The City of Imperial Beach is in the process of updating the Sixth Cycle Housing Element for the 2021-2029 planning period. The Housing Element is one of seven state-mandated elements of the City’s General Plan that establishes housing-related goals, policies and programs to address the existing and future housing needs for all economic segments in the City. To comply with State law, the City’s Housing Element must be updated every eight years and must ensure the City’s policies and programs can accommodate the estimated housing growth need identified in the San Diego County Association of Government’s (SANDAG) Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA) allocation. A public workshop focused on the Sixth Cycle Housing Element Update was held on August 26, 2020 where attendees were surveyed, and public comments were received. A draft of the City’s Sixth Cycle Housing Element has been completed and made available for public review below. Included in the Draft is a Housing Plan, which describes a variety of housing goals, policies, and programs that have been identified to address housing issues in Imperial Beach.
