Community Development Department!


The Community Development Department provides for orderly growth, development and redevelopment of the City through the application and implementation of the General Plan, Zoning, and building codes.

Our development teams include multiple divisions including Planning, Building, Code Compliance, and Housing Services, enabling the City of Imperial Beach to provide best in class service guaranteeing fast and effective permit processing times. We look forward to assisting you! 

Staff is available for walk-in services during counter hours or by appointment. The Community Development Department Counter Hours are as follows:

Monday through Thursday
7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. or by appointment

A comprehensive update to the City of Imperial Beach Master Fee Schedule is effective March 1, 2024 as approved by the City Council. This change will impact the cost of fees charged for services provided by various City departments such as permits, business licenses, fire inspections, safety and building inspections, or planning fees. Adjusting our fees to reflect inflationary pressures on City costs was necessary as most of our existing fees have been in effect without change since 2005.

Permitting and Licensing fees will increase per the new City of Imperial Beach Master Fee Schedule when the site becomes available again. Thank you for understanding.
